Charles Mcjilton has been the CEO of an NGO in Japan (2HJ) since 2002.
The organization contributes foods to people who are in straitened circumstances.
2HJ has provided food to Tohoku region, too.
Last year, he established the first incorporated food bank in the Philippines.
I was very shocked to read that each day in Tokyo 6000 tons of food are thrown away.
In the world, there are many poor people and they can not eat enough food to live.
We should decrease leavings of a meal.
One thing that impressed me about 2HJ is how many creative solutions have been developed to help people who don't have enough to eat in Japan. It's clear that many more creative solutions are needed to reach the huge need of the nearly 20,000,000 people whom he said experience food insecurity. Ideally, each neighborhood should take responsibility for those local residents who don't have enough to eat. Setting up food pantries in every emergency storage container that all neighborhoods have, would be a step in the right direction. I was glad to hear that 2HJ was already thinking about that and trying to work with the government to make it happen.
返信削除Although the scale of the problem is huge, I felt in listening to Charles McJilton that it isn't overwhelming and we (and I personally) can help to do something positive about it. I'm planning to do some volunteer work for 2HJ this winter holiday.
